Self portrait with funnel

Our studio is having an opening this Saturday, 20 artists in one big dusty, spiderweb infused, beautiful warehouse. It's a good tribe, a great family of artists from various walks. Multi-super-talents all in one convenient cinderblock box with big blue bay doors. Just like the old Saltine tins!. Our new team of leaders thought it would be a good idea if we all did a self-portrait, all the same size to be mounted together. A way of expressing both our individuality and our familyness. Having not done a self portrait since, maybe college, I waited until today, the deadline being tomorrow morning. Somehow a straightforward portrait just doesn't fit with me. I like humor, I like a juxtaposition of things, a narrative. Serious but not serious. So this is what I came up with. I thought it was funny. 8"x8".
